Introducing the Fluoreszent; Sustainer / Compressor.
Fluoreszent is an optical Sustainer/Compressor designed to provide transparent, smooth sustain for your instruments.
A few years back, I was looking to create a Compressor that acts more like a note- or chord-sustaining unit that works great on both clean and overdriven signals rather than an overbearing saturating compressor.
The idea was simple: a pedal that serves as a sustainer and tone enhancer, without being intrusive to your dynamics or base tone, while providing all the delicious sustain and percussive qualities that a professional studio compression unit should.
The result is an original sustainer unit that makes your clean tone sound big and sweet while at the same time retaining a good level of your playing dynamics. Push this into an overdriven amp or an overdrive pedal, and you’ll get a thick, well-balanced lead tone.
At the heart, Fluoreszent is a fast attack and slow release sustainer, which was painstakingly tuned to perfection. No more second-guessing when it comes to setting up the attack and release of your compression.
To add more versatility to this impressive and versatile circuit, I’ve also added a signal blending control (BLEND) as well as an active tone control (LUMIN).
The signal blender, called Blend, allows you to blend in your dry tone alongside the sustained tone in parallel; this gives you extra control over the flavour of your compression. One thing to keep in mind is that the Blend does not go fully dry, and there are reasons for that. First of all, I don't find a fully dry signal to be all that useful; secondly, I found that by keeping a minimum of 15-20% of the Sustain signal at the lowest setting, I could literally treat this as a tone enhancer by maxing out the Sustain knob.
On top of all that, I’ve also added the Lumin. Lumin is an active Presence control. It enables you to cut or boost the high frequencies. Boosting this will result in more gain to the high frequencies; cutting will result in less gain to the high frequencies. The sweet spot is in the middle, but you can use this to tailor to the gears that are in your signal chain.
And yes, the Fluoreszent also works great with Bass Guitar and Acoustic guitar loaded with pickups.
Need a sustained, sophisticated tone for all your musical needs? Look no further; the Fluoreszent will shine on you.
